Dear North Family,

We hope you are finding joy in the midst of a temporary new normal. At a recent gathering of pastors, one shared how a predator attacks a herd of buffalo. If they can startle the herd, the herd scatters, and when they scatter, they separate, and when they separate, they're vulnerable to attack. In these ever-changing times, the church must rally. So, as a staff, we intend to do all we can to keep you connected with the ministries here at North. Even as we adapt as a church body, we promise to continue to strive towards our mission to help everyone Love God, Love One Another and Love the World.

This Sunday we will be hosting a live worship and teaching stream at northbible.freeonlinechurch.com at 10:00 a.m. Worship together with your family and your Community Group (as long as you are following the suggested safety precautions). Sunday services for 3/22 and 3/29 will be hosted in this manner. Future decisions on our Sunday worship services will be made on a week-to-week basis.

We are excited to announce that we have created a page on our website with several resources to help you stay connected and focused on following Jesus while our church has "left the building". You can find these resources at northbiblechurch.com/resourcesHere is a video introduction to that resource page.

Please remember to visit northbible.com or follow us on Facebook or Instagram for our continuing updates. We will keep these sites updated with everything you need to know as we go forward together.

If you or someone you know needs help, or if you are someone who can offer help, please email ssmith@northbible.com. If there are other needs in our city of which you are aware, or if you have solutions for these needs, we would also encourage you to email us at the above. Know of any stories of people creatively helping people? Please share them with us!

Middle school and high school students, during this time we will remain active on our Instagram account @northstudents. Follow us to keep up to date on activities such as YouVersion reading plans, online hangouts, devotionals, playlist recommendations, and more.

As you can imagine, sheep are even more vulnerable than buffalo and must stay near their shepherd. Help us help you stay near Our Shepherd, Jesus. It is our prayer that in these uncertain times you would be certain of this: Our God is on His throne, He is good, and He loves you! We cannot emphasize this enough. This is not the time to withdraw from the church, THIS IS THE TIME TO BE THE CHURCH. Fill your mind with truth and be looking for opportunities to remember that God has called you to be a part of the most powerful force the world has ever seen.

".... on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it" Matthew 16:l8

We look forward to ministering to you and through you in the days ahead.

For those who choose not to attend in person, a video of the service will be posted online immediately following.

We are still monitoring the developments in our surrounding community and will provide another update tomorrow. Please take care with how you decide to engage in worship with us this Sunday. We encourage each of you to be wise and safe with your own situation.

North Bible Church Family,

This week, our North Bible Church staff has met on two different occasions to discuss how we can both act in faith and with wisdom regarding the coronavirus. Our desire has been to avoid reacting out of fear and to take the proper care that is needed to care for your health and safety as well as the health and safety of our surrounding communities.

As of today, we are continuing with our regularly scheduled Sunday meetings for this Sunday, March 15. We will be hosting both of our worship services at North, at 9:00am and 10:45am. In addition, our children’s and student ministries will be meeting as normal. At the same time, we will be constantly monitoring the relevant developments, including federal and state government responses and guidelines. As the wider context changes rapidly, we will continue to update you all on our status via North’s social media sites and via email on a daily basis leading up to Sunday.

For now, we want to encourage any of you who fall into the coronavirus risk groups as defined by the CDC, to consider staying home, at least for this Sunday, and until we have a better understanding of this virus and its impact. Please remember that there is no shame in staying home this Sunday and the recording of the sermon will be available online and on our podcast as early as Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday at North, we will be taking the following precautions to protect the health and safety of all of us at North:

  • We are suspending the service of food and beverages in our North Cafe.

  • We will have hand sanitizer widely available in our common areas for your use.

  • Instead of church bulletins being passed out, we will have a QR code available for you to scan and get access to our e-bulletin on your device.

  • Our registration iPads will be manned so that one person will be designated at each iPad to assist you in getting your children signed into their Sunday school classes.

  • Our offering will be collected in offering boxes located by the worship center main entry instead of passing offering bags. Please also consider giving online through our website, northbible.com which is a very simple and convenient way to give.

  • In addition, we would encourage everyone to engage in CDC suggested precautions which would include washing your hands, refraining from shaking hands and hugging and maintaining a reasonable distance from one another.

Thank you for helping us to wisely steward the health and well-being of our North family. During these times, it is important to remember that the most frequent command that we are given in the Bible is “do not fear”. We can have hope and courage because we know that the God who is always in control and who knows the end from the beginning loves us and has promised good for those of us who trust in Jesus.

We are also reminded to be wise in how we steward the lives that God has given us, which includes looking out for the well being of our neighbors. Just like anything else we face in this life, today we are provided today with another opportunity to trust in our good and sovereign God and to show the world that the Good News of Jesus is still the greatest news the world has ever heard! Although we might be tempted to panic or despair, we remember that Psalm 46 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble…Be still and know that I am God”.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

Jay Gjurgevich, Lead Pastor
